Professor Jung-heon KIM of the Department of Taekwondo at Yongin University has been announced as the 7th Chairman of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation (TPF). His official term began on August 19th, 2024.

Prof. Kim has an extensive background in Taekwondo, having served as a director of the Korea Taekwondo Association (President Dr. Jin-bang YANG, KTA), Secretary-General of the Asian Taekwondo Union (President Kyu-seok LEE, ATU), and Chairman of the Poomsae Committee of the World Taekwondo (President Dr. Chungwon CHOUE, WT). Notably, he also has experience as the Secretary-General of TPF.

Beyond Taekwondo organizations, Prof. KIM has been active as a member of the World Martial Arts Masterships Committee (President Si-jong LEE, WMC) and as the Senior Vice President of the Korean Alliance of Martial Arts Academies (President Seung-sik CHOI, KAMA).

A graduate of Yongin University's Department of Taekwondo, Prof. KIM completed his master's and doctoral degrees at Minnesota State University in the United States, making him one of the most prominent figures in the Taekwondo community in terms of international communication and awareness. His consistent research and administrative activities in Taekwondo make him well-suited for his new role as the Chairman of the TPF.

After the previous chairman, Eung-hwan OH, retired in June of last year, the position of Chairman of the TPF had remained vacant for over a year. With Chairman Prof. KIM now in place, there are high expectations for the revitalization of the international relations network of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation and the Muju Taekwondowon.
